Energy Storage is the key to integrating renewables into the electricity grid and ensuring the reliability of electricity supply

The Australian Energy Storage Knowledge Bank project succeeded due to the support and collaboration of our industry and government partners who worked with the lead team from the University of Adelaide. Thanks to our partners for providing their expertise, equipment and financial and engineering support, without which the project and resulting test facilities and data wouldn’t have been possible.

Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA)

ARENA is the Australian Government’s agency tasked with making it easier and quicker for Australians to access the benefits of renewable energy. ARENA provided support to the project with $1.44 million in grant funding.

South Australian Government

The South Australian Government leads the way in renewable energies and is committed to facilitating investment into energy storage projects. The government provided foundational financial support in enabling the project to go ahead.

ZEN Energy

ZEN Energy is a leading South Australian solar and battery storage company, dedicated to developing innovative and sustainable energy technologies. ZEN Energy’s support at the start of the project was critical to its success.

AE Renewable Solutions

AE Renewable Solutions is an industry leader in solar and grid protection devices. Their support was critical in establishing the project and in providing the capability to test storage technologies under both lab and network conditions.

SA Power Networks

SA Power Networks operates a state-wide distribution network comprising thousands of kilometres of powerlines and hundreds of substations. Their Network Innovation Centre played a critical role in enabling the AESKB project and trials at Cape Jervis.

Energy Networks Australia

Energy Networks Australia is the peak national body representing gas distribution and electricity transmission and distribution businesses. Energy Networks provided financial support and assisted with the project’s knowledge sharing goals.
